Tuesday 10th March 2026

The event is for:
- Unpaid Carers supporting patients during hospital stays, visits and at home
- Patients who rely on an unpaid carer(s)
- Healthcare professionals committed to improving carer involvement

- Help shape our hospitals to better support carers
- Collaborate with professionals and community partners.
Aims
- To recognise and value unpaid carers as integral partners in patient care within our hospital settings.
- To strengthen relationships between hospital staff and unpaid carers to improve patient experience and outcomes.
- To gather insights and feedback from carers to inform service improvements and enhance carer support.
- To raise awareness of hospital resources, policies, and initiatives that support carers.
- To co-create solutions to address challenges faced by unpaid carers in the acute care environment.
Objectives
- To provide a safe space for dialogue where carers can share experiences, concerns, and suggestions openly.
- To identify barriers and gaps in communication, involvement, and support for carers during hospital admissions.
- To present current hospital initiatives related to carer engagement and seek feedback for improvement.
- To facilitate networking between carers, hospital staff, and community organizations to build collaborative support systems.
- To develop actionable recommendations from the event to inform the hospital’s patient and public engagement strategy.
